People who use any technology want to understand how it works. However, this is particularly important in crypto. Our entire industry is about trust, not trust in institutions, but trust in algorithms and the computer programs that implement them.

Most people are not going to audit carefully the source code of all of your contracts. However, they still want to understand how it works and why we think it is trustworthy. That is the job of explainers.
